Hi, I'm Meg!
It sounds cliche, but I remember how I fell in love with hiking like it was yesterday...
My best friend had recently moved to Malvern and I visited her with the idea of exploring the local area. She brought with her some instructions of a very short walk taking us from the main town up into the Malvern Hills. Once up there, I eyed up the next hill, suggesting we made our way over there - A couple more hills later and I was hooked!
It can be hard to find people to adventure with - getting out there in the elements isn't everyone's cup of tea. I couldn't believe my luck when I met Ady (and Flossie) who were just as up for an adventure as I was.
I was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease in June 2018. This means that I have to have a strictly gluten-free diet (including avoiding cross contamination) for the rest of my life.
In honesty, the news turned my world upside-down. I suddenly wasn't allowed to eat any of my favourite food and had to rethink even the most basic of meals. I also found that meals out turned from a treat into a chore, having to research heavily just to find somewhere safe to eat.
Ady is vegetarian and when I moved in with him he threw every gluten-containing item out of the house - the least I could do was become vegetarian with him 🤪 Something I really missed when I was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease was sharing food with my partner - I am so grateful that this is once again possible!
Bar a couple of school trips, I did not get the opportunity to leave the country until I was an adult. With restrictions such as finances and lockdown, I reached my 30s having not made a big enough dent in my bucket list than I would have hoped. Since meeting Ady, we have done a very good job of rectifying that 🤪
This world is full of so many amazing sights and I am determined to see as many of them as possible during my short time on this planet! I hope that details of our adventures will help like-minded people make the most of life, just like we are trying to do 🥰
