We followed this trail up until the houses - and then we just explored before retracing our steps back to the car park:

Ady & Meg.

This former slate quarry (which closed in 1969!) is the second largest slate quarry in the world. And it's absolutely stunning - the photos simply do not do it justice!

It is quite a steep climb up, but you are rewarded with views almost as soon as you leave the car park. As said above, we followed the AllTrails route as far as the houses and then we just explored. You could of course continue to follow the route to the summit of Elidir Fawr, but be warned that it is one hell of a scramble at the top (we visited this summit via a slightly different route on a different day).

Obviously as this is a quarry, it is uneven under foot and an element of common sense is required - be safe please guys 😀

Flossie.

I thoroughly enjoyed this walk, until we bumped into some mountain goats with HUGE horns - they were very scary! 🤣
