Ady & Meg.
We booked in for a vegetarian and gluten free celebration afternoon tea (which requires 48 hours notice even for the muggles / people without dietary requirements) and loved it!
As per our standard practice, we contacted the tearoom prior to booking to check their procedures when catering to someone with coeliac disease. The response we received was very thorough, confirming that they use separate surfaces, utensils and butter when preparing gluten free food, to avoid cross contamination. They make their own scones and cakes on site, but make the gluten free ones on a different day, to the gluten containing ones, again to avoid cross contamination.
Admittedly the response on the phone when we called to book didn't install quite so much confidence in their knowledge of dietary requirements in general, but on the day the staff were attentive and overall we came away full and most importantly, reaction-free!
Obviously as always, please use your own judgement - this is a restaurant which contains gluten and we completely appreciate that it's often the staff member that you deal with who make the experience. On this occasion, we were very satisfied customers.
Flossie.
I didn't come on this adventure, but I could have been invited.
Well behaved dogs are welcome here... What are you implying?! 😈
