Ady & Meg.
This place is clearly very popular - the day we visited, there was a queue down the street (and they actually employ people to manage that queue!). We however, really couldn't see what all the fuss was about...
It is very hard to get hot food on the go when you are a Coeliac, so we were excited to be able to try authentic dutch fries whilst in Amsterdam. Knowing that they also served gluten-containing croquettes, we emailed them in advance to ask about cross contamination. We received a confident response, so proceeded with our visit.
However, once we reached the counter we were warned about cross contamination, quite the opposite to what the email had stated. Upon speaking to a manager, we were reassured that they were just 'covering themselves' so went ahead with our purchase. We were still far from comfortable, but were hungry and running out of time to find food before our next activity.
Luckily, Meg did not have a reaction, but we can't say that the chips were all they were cracked up to be. And they were very expensive for such a small portion!
Obviously as always, please use your own judgement. This is a restaurant which contains gluten, and in our opinion, there are better options for Coeliacs in Amsterdam.
Flossie.
I was not invited on this adventure ☹
