Ady & Meg.
Unfortunately we had a very confusing experience when we visited this restaurant. The pub has a lovely homely feel and being a nice day we were happy to be able to sit outside.
As per usual procedures, we contacted this restaurant in advance to check that they were able to cater to us. We were delighted to be told that they had an extensive gluten free menu and seemed to have good knowledge on how to avoid cross contamination.
However, when we arrived at the restaurant and started our usual 'coeliac dance' with the waitress, she informed us that anything fried would be done so in a fryer that contained gluten - and this was nearly everything on the gluten free menu! We therefore just ordered a jacket potato, instead of the feast that we had planned.
Following our visit, Meg contacted the restaurant owners to feedback how disappointing it was to find that most of their gluten free menu was not safe for Coeliacs. The response was that the waitress was incorrect and that they did indeed have a gluten free fryer!😕
Long story short, this place is either very good or very bad for coeliacs - please ask your own questions prior to eating here.
Flossie.
I was not invited on this adventure ☹
