This is a great hike, which we completed anti-clockwise (opposite to the route on AllTrails. This route takes you along the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal and into the hills, visiting the 'Lonely Shepherd' where your hard work will be rewarded with amazing panoramic views. The Lonely Shepherd is an upright rock which is said to represent a shepherd who mistreated his wife leading to her taking her own life. In retribution, a local witch turned him to stone...
The route then visits the old Ironworks before crossing Devil's Bridge, where legends say you can see the Devil etched into the rocks below.
Flossie.
I enjoyed this walk as it had plenty of sticks, but sadly I wasn't allowed to paddle in the canal.
