Ady & Meg.

We can't help but find it quite comical that the highlight of our trip to Venice was this excursion which took us 3 hours outside of Venice?! 🤪

Cars are not allowed into Venice, so we took the vaporetto to the meet point - this was a great opportunity to see nearly the whole canal by boat! Once we met our guide and the other 6 passengers, we got into a minibus and set off. The guide was absolutely fantastic, telling us lots of stories about the area and pointing out landmarks / times to get the camera at the ready.

He pulled the minibus over fairly often for us to quickly jump out and take photos. For example, we stopped briefly to see Trampolino Olimpico (a ski jumping hill), Lake Antorno (a star wars filming location) and our absolute favourite of on the side of a road (which is normally too busy, but we were lucky on this day) surrounded by snowy mountains.

We had free time in the town of Cortina and at Lake Misurina, where we walked around the lake and went for some lunch at Pizzeria Edelweiss. On route back, we also stopped off briefly at Santa Caterina Dam.

This was a full day excursion and we understand that the exact stop points change dependent on the weather (when we visited there was a lot of snow and the lakes were frozen, but the roads were perfectly safe. We 100% recommend that you do this if you have a day spare whilst visiting Venice.

Flossie.

I was not invited on this adventure ☹️
