Three Days in North Devon

Published on 29 November 2024 at 08:00

For this adventure, we spent the weekend in a converted coach in Hartland, North Devon.

We both took the Friday off work to travel down (with a couple of stops along the way) and headed home on the Sunday afternoon.

We managed to do a few walks over the weekend and even have a couple of coeliac-safe meals out.

Day 1

Our first stop was to pop in to Charlie's cafe to pick up some cakes for the road. This place had been on Meg's radar for some time, so we were so glad that our route allowed a visit. They did not disappoint.

It was then a 45 minute drive to our next stop, which was to see Speke's Mill Mouth Waterfall. It was a great way to stretch our legs after the long drive.

It was then only a 10 minute drive to the Airbnb. We checked in at Reception and were shown to the coach.

We were very excited to learn that there was a pub that served coeliac-safe food just a 15 minute walk from the Airbnb! It was a very dark walk with no pavement for the majority of it, so please take a torch!

We had a fantastic meal at The Kings Arms and we walked back to the coach with very full tummies, ready to get some rest for the day ahead.

Day 2

We left the Airbnb nice and early and it was just a 15 minute drive to our first stop of the day - Clovelly.

Here we enjoyed exploring the peaceful streets and watched the sunrise over the harbour.

It was about a 30 minute drive to our next stop - Appledore. Here we enjoyed a nice easy walk before heading to our final walk of the day.

It was around a 40 minute drive to Welcombe Mouth beach, some of which was down a very tight gravel track. We felt the views on this walk were well worth it though.

From here it was just a 20 minute drive back to the Airbnb, where we made some dinner and relaxed ready for the next day.

Day 3

Day 3 was our final day, and the weather was not looking great at all.

Day 3 was our final day, and the weather was not looking great at all. We therefore had a leisurely morning before heading for a short walk at Hartland Point (around a 10 minute drive from the Airbnb)

It was then another 10 minute drive back to Hartland, to have Sunday lunch at The Hart Inn.

From here, we set off on our journey home, stopping by Rumwell Farm Shop for supplies on the way.

Hartland was a great base for a weekend away!
